These Things
Things that are in the works? Here’s some of them.
At the beginning of this month I ran my first screen print at Screwball Press in Chicago. Proprietor, Steve Walters, gave me a great overview of the process and I look forward to printing more soon. In fact, I’ve got ideas for five more prints to come and one illustration actually in process. The first one was a run of 35, but only 9 turned out extra nice (there is a little bit of a learning curve). But wait, there’s more!
Yesterday I was invited to perform a show October 30 at Fritz Pastry. I will be opening with about a thirty minute acoustic set before The Winter Me and Elizabeth Stedman take the floor. Believe it or not, I’ll be playing quite a few original tunes, but I’ll sprinkle a couple recognizable covers in, too. Facebook users should RSVP so I know you’re coming. The earlier I hear from you, the more likely you are to influence the setlist!
Speaking of Facebook, I’ve added an artist page to hock all my wares. Why? Well there’s regular John who bores friends and family with the minutiae of his life with classic status updates such as “Hrm. Going for a run” and “What’s the most you have (or would ever) spend on a piece of furniture?” Then there is John Everett Morton, Public Figure, who announces shows, new prints and illustrations for sale, etc. This is so that John Everett Morton, Public Figure, can promote himself and act like a big rock star, while the regular John Morton can remain true to his introverted self and avoid “friending” people he doesn’t actually know. Or something like that. Anyway, I hope you’ll officially “Like” it and share it with your friends.
In addition to the Oct 30 show at Fritz Pastry, I’ll be playing a private gig November 6. After that, it’s anyone’s guess. If you have a favorite spot you like to hear music, maybe let them know and I’ll send them a demo or what have you.
One final note! It would be awesome to see lots of friends and family at the show October 30. Afterward I will be seeing The Dandy Warhols play at the Vic Theatre around 8pm. Looks like tickets are still available if you want to join me in some rocking out later that evening.

will you be playing a version of your “halloween 2003″ song at the october 30th show? :)
It is quite possible! Currently playing with a new version of it.
