Less than a week left…

My word count is currently 38,427.  I’m behind, but there is time to catch up.  I minored in procrastination in college so I’m not too worried.  It’s just before eleven o’clock this morning and I plan to go to bed shortly.  When I awake I will be fresh and energized and go on a writing spree.  I’d like to be over 40,000 before I go in to work tonight.  It’s coming along.

I’m told that I may be featured on the NaNoWriMo webpage later today, so pay attention.  The write-in Saturday night was pretty quiet.  I ate dinner with one of the municipal liasons from DeKalb and her muse, and then I was left to write alone.  I was a little disappointed that I didn’t see any college students stumbling in from the bar.  I guess in these tough economic times they have to stay in and drink.

And of course I don’t even get much of a reprieve at the end of the month.  On December 6th I’ll be playing my first gig in several years.  I’ve got a tentative setlist with over a dozen songs.  I’m shooting for 20+.  We’ll see.  As soon as my novel is finished, I’ll be practicing guitar nearly every waking minute.

I’ve also added a tag cloud down at the bottom right of my blog.  The more often a tag is used, the bigger it is.  You’ll notice which one is biggest now.  I’m just pleased to see that “art stuffs” isn’t too small.

  1. Good luck! You’re almost done! And good luck in the upcoming set in December.

  2. Where is this gig you’re playing?

  3. It’s just a little shindig in a co-worker’s basement. I might use it as a test run to play out more regularly. Currently I’m planning to play material by Wilco, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, CCR, Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, as well as some original tunes.

  4. whoo, I am more behind. I finished a week early last year but my life has had stumbling blocks this month and here I am with only 23876 words written. Hope to use two days after Thanksgiving and Sunday after bowling to finish before the deadline. Good luck and have great fun with the gig you have planned.

  5. Hi, so, I JUST found out that there’s even ONE other NaNo-er in Dekalb!

You should email me about the next one and I can try to go.

    Also? I broke 46K tonight. ^_^

  6. I saw the feature on you on the NaNoWriMo page.

I’m also a first-time NaNo, and I also work third shift. Night writing is great. Fortunately, I have some downtime on my job each night that allows me to get most of my writing down for the day.

I’ve also been a little behind all month in my word count. I work all week to get caught up, but then I get little done on my days off. However, I’m confident I can pull it off.

I’m just glad to see that there is someone out there that feels my pain :)

    50K FTW!!!

  7. First, hooray for being featured on the NaNoWriMo site. Very cool.

Second, Matt and i are hoping you have a more public gig soon (with advance notice). I’d love to see you play sometime.
