If All Goes Wrong

Last night was the Smashing Pumpkins gig at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago.  It wasn’t a bad show, but kind of weird.  I like that I got to see some songs live that I never expected to see peformed, like “Transfomer”, a b-side on the Thirty-Three EP.  They played seven songs that I’ve never heard before.  If I were keeping up with things like the die hard fan I used to be, I would have known “G.L.O.W.” and “Superchrist”.  I was surprised that they played “Mayonaise”.  A lot of times they don’t do that one because it is associated with former guitarist James Iha.

Anyway, it was fun, but I think Billy is starting to lose it.  There was no encore because he was sick, and they actually cancelled the show for tonight rescheduling it for December 8.  I think if he stopped surrounding himself with sycophants and would kiss and make up with James already, they might have something really worth paying attention to.  The set list is here if you want to see it, though they definitely played “Eye” (from the Lost Highway soundtrack) and it is nowhere to be found on the list.

In other news…I’m past the 32,000 word mark, but I’d like to be at 38,000 by midnight Sunday.  Right now I’m feeling ill and I’m going to bed.  I’ll get up this evening and if I’m well I plan to head to DeKalb for another write-in at Steak and Shake.  Apparently someone at the Office of Letters and Light took interest in our midnight write-in and wants to know more and see photos.  So I said I’d do it again and take pictures.  I’ll post something if they write about on the NaNoWriMo site.
